snack/food idea for night shift nurses?

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Next week will be my last day of preceptorship, I want to bring some snacks/foods as a thank you to the unit staff..

was thinking to bring two boxes of doughnuts.. But I was wondering if that's good for night shift?

any suggestions?

Donuts I am sure will go over well but night shift will want to sleep after all that sugar!

How about like a fruit plate or a veggie tray with several dips??

If you really want sugar, how about cupcakes that are placed on a tray to say Thanks or Thank you? You can get even Walmart bakery to write a letter on each cupcake for you or you can buy icing gel and do it yourself.

Or you might get a couple pizzas to take in or have delivered.

If you can, you could bring in small plates that might say Thanks for the fruit or veggies.

By the way Congrats on finishing preceptorship. :)

I think anything you bring, will be appreciated. What a nice, thoughtful gesture!

thanks for the reply! :) I love the idea of writing a letter on each cupcake!

I would bring in fruit or a veggie tray.

I usually baked a little something...but as a general rule nurses like food. All kinds of food. Regardless of the shift. Especially if it's free and easily eaten!

Best of luck to you!

well... we eat donuts on nightshift too. it is our morning, after all. :-p whatever you bring for days will work for nights!

Just a side note: taking in any food basically anytime is a great way to make friends with nurses!!

When I did orientation day and had to teach Bloodborne pathogens class after lunch.. I kept people awake by throwing (gently) mini candy bars at them. It works very well.

At my first job, I knew I was a REAL nurse on the night after about 3 weeks when we ate banana splits at 3am out of plastic emesis basins!!!:yeah:

I would gladly start my night with eating a donut....or maybe wait until 2 in the morning when I need a pick-me-up. Anything you bring will be appreciated!

Food is always good with nurses. Just make sure the night shift's share is set aside. Day shift tends to hog the food. Night shift comes on, and half of night shift's share is already opened. Wow, I think i just discovered a pet peeve .

Cookies!! I love cookies!!:redbeathe

What a nice gesture!! Anything will be appreciated. Just to throw something different out there how about a taco type dip along with some tortilla chips and salsa? That could be fun.
