Should I start my RN-BSN program right after ADN graduation?

Hello everyone I've asked a few questions on here before and always found the advice helpful. I will graduate from my community college's ADN program next June (2010). The school I'm planning on transferring to offers an online RN-BSN program that starts every summer. The application period is from January 2010-May 2010. So my question is, do you think it would be difficult to start the RN-BSN program so soon after graduating the ADN program? My grad day is June 6th, 2010. The RN-BSN program starts June 22, 2010. They will accept me before I graduate the ADN program, as long as I do graduate. I just want to make sure I won't be too overwhelmed, but I want to get my BSN as soon as I can because my ultimate goal is to join the Air Force. Thanks for any input!
P.S. I posted this in a more specific area, but got no replies So I thought I would try here.

(I live in California)

I think if you are already accepted, it would probably be a good decision to go. I don't know how it is where you live, but in California the job market for new RNs is really bad so continuing school would be the best option if you are in that situation. But you say you want to go into the AF and to be an officer you have to have the BSN I imagine, so go for it. I was enlisted in the AF before I went to nursing school and I loved it, by the way! I think it is first class for the military Even our tents in Kuwait had air conditioning.....and the officers had real buildings with walls! Anyway you'll get all the on the job training you need in the AF so why not get yourself on that path if its your goal? Good luck!

Very true! I'm just worried if it will be too much to handle at one time.

Yes if you have the money. Maybe you can get the AF to pay for it.

I say go for it! The longer you wait, the harder it is to go back. I had my ADN for six years when I went back for my BSN. Due to being part-time and other obstacles it took me about two years to finish. But, when I was done, it was a huge relief! You obviously have goals (for which I commend you!), so stay focused on those goals! Good Luck!

Go for it--but double check about having an RN license first. I think many of them require it.

I agree, go for it! I live in CA. I graduated in May and CAN NOT find a job. I have decided to go back to school since I have all this time on my hands! The AF is a good idea. I thought about joining the military too, but the pay is terrible. The experience you gain from the AF would be priceless. My husband is in the military and since we would rarely be stationed together I decided not to join. Someday I will get a job as a RN...hopefully!

Good luck in school; your almost there!!!!!

They do require it so I asked the advisor what to do because I will not have graduated yet when I apply. She said that I would just submit it when I do graduate and pass my exam. So I'll be set...as long as I pass my test

Hey, better late than never Thank you for the words of encouragement! I am definitely trying to stay focused...it's tough, but I'm doing it so far

Thank you! I'm not married and don't have kids, so I figured if I want to do it, now would be the time because if I was married or had kids, it would be too difficult to have to spend so much time away from them. Good luck on finding a job! Keep your head up
