I scrolled past this one on pintrest one day and it stuck with me, so I made it into a bulletin board in my elementary school office.

I painted this mural at Anomaly Shopping Maul back in April 2002 called "Words of the Prophets". The mural was located across from a record shop and next to a coffee shop that used black and white as its color scheme.

Each had a quote from a song that was somewhat motivational, yet more so reminders:

"Unless you've made no mistakes in your life, be careful of stones that you throw."

Elvis' quote was the most difficult to find, as his 50's Rock N Roll songs had little to offer in the way of being philosophical. When taken out of context, a line from the song "One-Sided Love Affair" fit the bill: "The whole world will know this is true: Understanding solves all problems".

However, the song went:

"Very strange, a personal robbery!

And the whole world will know this is true:

That's what I'm a-tellin' you!"

Whenever one of my siblings or I were having a "crisis" our mother would repeat the above quote. Ma always said it very calmly, but with a twinkle in her eye. There were times when that twinkle made me think "this" might pass like a kidney stone! It made me crazy that she could be so calm. She was 92 when she died. Her go-to quote taught each of her children to be patient. The storm will pass. Sometimes it does pass like a kidney stone, but I always felt better once it did. I think that thought often when I'm at work. This crisis will pass. Another one will come to take its place. Keep your head on straight, use the knowledge that you have worked hard to gain, work as a team. This, too, shall pass.
