My dad called me about my grandma Turns out she has severe abdominal cancer, they cant treat it only keep her as comfortable as possible until she dies. docs are saying NOONE can visit But my Grandma CANT die alone...nobody should. This just crushes me breaks my heart. Please if anyone can help. email me at [email protected] or my dad hes the Dr. of Music at Toronto University Trinity college) His name is DR. Willis J Noble I just need to know who I can contact there has to be some way around this is family members are dying, they should be with Family at least

Sorry to hear about your Grandmother. the general rule is that family are allowed in one per household for the termianlly ill. You will have to contact the hospital where she is to find out policy.

You may find more info if you go to the other SARS links just press the search and type in SARS, this will get you to other links. The one that seems to be the most informative is SARS in Toronto.

Hope this helps.

? Can Grandma be kept comfortable at home??? If she can be managed at home then no one in the family would be excluded and she will be able to pass away with the love of her family all around.

I'll say a prayer for you tonight

tHANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP AND FOR ALL YOUR PRAYERS. I guess its just so frustrating because i live in the US and feel so helpless. I sent my dad a copy of your response, along with a link to SARS in Toronto. He is going to find someone to plead our situation, and the link site gives a starting point. I'm not sure why they havent released her to die at home, we will be looking into that also. Toronto is only an 8 hour drive for me so I will definetly be there when we get the ok. Again Thank you for your post, It is amazing how a stranger could be soo compassionate and caring....That is why I chose Nursing, I want to be able to make a difference in someones life. GOD Bless YOU Sixes =)

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother:o My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

As for hospital visits, as far as I know, right now, the hospitals are allowing 1 visitor per pt (only terminally ill ones). All visitors will be masked, gowned etc... for safety purposes.

I hope this eases your mind a bit!!

Hugs

Thank you all for your supportive and caring notes, My father was finaly able to visit her on Tuesday for 2 hours then again Wednesday he sat on her bed with her they had a few laughs and he held her in his arms and she then passed away. I am just really glad that he got to be with her when she went, I couldn't have beared it if she were to have died alone, I just wish I could have seen her one last time Love to you all and God Bless you
