RT to RN

I'm a current RRT & I'm looking to go back to school to earn a RN degree.

Anyone have any good experiences with online colleges? Please steer me in

the right direction. I've only read negative reviews of every college that I've looked

at. I know the better direction would be a real university, but I work & have 2

small kids, so I'm not sure that that would work for me. Any and all advice is

greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You cannot become an RN entirely online. Excelsior and have programs that deliver didactic online- but there is always a clinical component.

WGU's program is available in UT, TX, CA, FL, and IN.

You would still have to attend clinicals as an LPN to RN track. If you want to become an RN, you are going to be better of going straight for the RN. There is NO way you are going to avoid clinicals.

Ok thanks. I'm not looking to avoid clinicals as I was just hoping to be able to do some online work so I would still be able to work while getting the degree. Looks like classroom work is going to be what I have to do. Thanks for the help.

OP: I would strongly suggest that you pick the brains of the nurses where you work. They know the good, the bad, and the ugly of local programs.

Excelsior was one of the only and it's no longer an option for RTs they only admit actively working LPNs, EMT-P/MICP/paramedic/medic and active duty military in certain classifications
