Hello All!

Just curious....Anyone on the list both an RN and a EMT? And, if you are, do you have problems separating the two? i.e., when working or volunteering as an EMT do you find yourself having to mentally separate the RN from the EMT?

Just as an aside, looked out the window and could not believe the SNOW that was coming down fast and furious here on the East Coast (NYC)! Come On, SPRING!

bye for now,

I have had a blast working volunter with our local EMS and a voluntary organization that does medical aide for outdoor events around the state! I really had no probelms with my roles...I mean, I am RN and can do much (I am ACLS), but I am very respectful and know my place when doing volunter work with EMS...they have the experience I do not sometimes...and I just assist and will put in a suggestion or two once in a while that usually is right on the money!

But then again in RN school, my hubby who is a paramedic and his company really took me under their wings and taught me so much! They taught me more in less time actually! I am a EMT at heart, RN by degree and career. So the two fit me like a T, and has come in very handy in emergency situations!

AND, many of the RN's I know also have their EMT or paramedic certification as well...it works out excellent for them!
