Return to Nursing Programs

  1. Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a program for nurses to brush up on their skills after being out of bedside nursing for awhile? I had seen ads in the paper about 6 months ago, but nothing since. I am looking in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, orConneticut. Any info would be a big help.

Call your local community colleges and universities...particularly those with nursing programs....I'll bet you find one available as they're really catching on in these days of shortage....we're trying to draw all nurses back into active practice! Good luck and welcome back! You are needed!!!

Our local tech school has a clinical refersher, but most hospitals around her will take the time to refresh clinical skills in exchange for another nurse. Check out the hospitals before paying for a class.

I need this information myself as I am one of those nurses looking to return to nursing by next year sometime. I'll go anywhere that pays well, and is a nice place to work. :kiss

I'm really looking at returning to Ohio....my hometown....if possible. So, if anyone knows of any hospitals in Ohio that are hiring nurses like myself, let me know. Thanks! And......best of luck to you, too, Shevalove! :kiss

    Rneee,
The hospital I'm with is willing to "retrain" which really means an extended orientation with no questions asked. I would check out the local hospitals first. In PA short of demanding to work in the nude hospitals are willing to do what ever it takes to get nurses.

What hosp are you at ? I've applied and keep getting turned away because I have no hosp experience. Even the internships have turned me away, I figured due to age. They accept such a small number into these, and would get more yrs out of a younger nurse. No wonder we have a shortage, huh?
