Hi Everybody!

I was wondering if anyone could provide feedback on providing a good cover letter? I'm currently trying to relocate with my current employer and transfer to a different facility in another city and HR stated that I need to write this cover letter. :uhoh3:Ok, I did search on the internet and saw some sample letters but its better to get feedback from personal experience. I also searched the threads and still didn't see much that was of any help. Any feedback is much appreciated! :yeah:

Yours is at least with the same company. I had to relocate and work in a totally new place. As always, tweek your cover letters to fit the opportunity, your history and the message you wish to convey.

Here is the one I used that got me 3 interviews in the new state:

Attn: Nurse Recruiter

Dear Nursing Recruiter,

I am writing to express my interest in Registered Nursing positions at your hospital. I have an Associate Degree in Nursing from My College. I obtained my licensure in the State of Timbuktu on February 9, 9999. I have received my New State licensure by endorsement. I believe that my educational background and past work experiences can contribute significantly to your healthcare system.

My current position is in a facility that is a combination LTC, acute and sub-acute care. As a charge nurse assigned to 30 patients per shift, I have learned the essence of time management and supervisory skills. Our patient population suffers from both chronic and acute illnesses and most have significant co-morbidities. I have been able to refine my skills in patient assessment and increase the confidence I need to care for patients. I have collaborated with other healthcare professionals to achieve the best outcome for our patients.

I am passionate about nursing and I realize that critical patient care requires a solid foundation in nursing skills and techniques, prioritization of care, and communication skills. These skills, coupled with my compassion, patience, and patient advocacy, are only a part of what I offer as a Registered Nurse.

My application can only tell you so much about my motivation and qualifications for a position as a Registered Nurse. I also possess skills that have been fine tuned through years of working in (my prior field). I excel at multitasking and possess excellent analytical and documentation skills. These skills would greatly enhance my role as a Registered Nurse.

I am relocating to NS to be with my husband as he completes his final military tour. I would welcome the opportunity to further discuss my background, vision for nursing, and interest in this position with you. Thank you for your consideration in this exciting opportunity.

{Above paragraph...tells why I am relocating. By stating "final" military tour, this shows that I am unlikely to be in this position in the near future. I am able to tell them during the interview that it is our plan to retire in this new area....}

Regards,

Aww man!!..Thanks for sharing this with me!...I sure so appreciate it!!.:redbeathe..Right now its totally frustrating because eventhough I'm with the same company, we still have to compete with internal and external applicants and go through the same interview process etc. At this point all I can do is try and write a really good letter and if that dosen't work then i will be applying to other companies where I'm relocating to. Thanks again! :yeah:
