Hi! Does anyone out there really USE a nursing theory as the framework for your day-to-day practice? In my 2-year RN training, we studied nursing theory, one of the most boring courses I'd taken. Of course, I was mostly interested in learning the "how-to's" of nursing. The subject was not touched on in my BSN program (2+2); and now, in the 2nd year of a MSN program, the subject is revisited. . . and finally makes sense to me.
I wonder is anyone out there thinks about any special theory of nursing practice consciously as they practice? Did anything from school about "nursing theory" make sense to you then and did it carry over into practice?
Would love to get your responses. If you're interested, please go to Nurse Educators and see my question there about Modeling Role Modeling. Thanks!!
