Question- what is the non-fasting glucose reading that indicates diabetes?

  1. I believe it used to be 140, but I can't remember offhand what it is now-

Does anyone know the non-fasting blood glucose number which is considered definitive for diabetes?

    Thanks!

    100 - 125 suggests pre-diabetes; >125 is diabetes

    tnbutterfly,

The numbers you gave are for FASTING glucose - OP asked about Non-Fasting

Trigger level for non-fasting is more than one random test >200

Above 200 via lab draw at any two points in time with symptoms.

hmmm i was under the impression that over 150 had the potential to interfer with cardiac electrical activity

    Not all hyperglycemia is diabetes.

Then we're screwed if we've just eaten in the last two hours.

OOPs stand corrected, over 126 if fasting. 200 for non fasting. Thanks!
