Question about Ativan

Hello Everyone,

I am a recent grad who has not been able to find employment yet. I became very anxious and my doctor put me on Ativan 0.5mg and it has helped for me to be able to get back out there and apply for jobs again. I read on the internet that this is one of the drugs they test for pre-employment drug screens. I did not know that. Does this mean that I will fail a drug test if I get called for an interview?

All comments are appreciated. Thank you.

You will need to tell the testing center in advance that you are on benzodiazepines, and be able to produce the prescription bottle with your name and the prescriber's on it. That should take care of things..honesty truly is the best policy.

As the QA Nurse at work, we ask new hires if they are on any prescriptive drugs. PS...moved post to more appropriate Forum.

It will show up in a drug test and you will be alright if you have a RX bottle with your name and datereceived on it. Lots of nursing staff takes meds that are flagged by drug screens.

I take Xanax as 0.5mg. as needed for panic attacks and I told them before I took my drug test that I was taking it PRN and I passed the drug test. I also have Diabetes so I did inform my Nurse Manager of this and the panic attacks just in case I had any symptoms from either. She was fine with it and said she was glad I told her so they would know what was going on if something wierd happened to me while I was at work. I wear an ID bracelet too so that helps. You should be fine.
