Personal Malpractice Insurance

by ProvRN

Hello! I am a fairly new nurse, with a year of experience. It is time for me to renew the personal malpractice insurance I purchased last year as a new grad. I was wondering whether people feel that an RN should carry her own policy, if the hospital provides coverage?

Yes indeed. Your malpractice insurance protects YOU, the hospital's malpractice insurance protects THEM!

Definitely have your own insurance. Its relatively cheap. Well worth the money for the peace of mind.

www.nso.com

Buy it today. If the hospital ever goes after you you'll need it. And don't think it can't happen. It can, even if you haven't done anything worng, if they need a scapegoat. I speak from experience.

I get mine through my homeowners policy-as "Professional Liability Rider". Prob not as comprehensive as independant malpractice co. but very low cost.
