Hello,

I just graduated from nursing school this spring and just began working.
I want to know what everybody thinks about a hospital representative saying "they" didn't think nurses needed to get personal insurance because "they protect" us. We were always told in nursing school that hospitals will tell us this but to get our own insurance ASAP.

I wanted to ask the representative myself after her talk but another speaker came in to the room to talk and he left.

Either way I plan on getting my own insurance because all the evidence I've found says nurse should most definitely have their own insurance.

Any thoughts on the subject.... ?

I attended a seminar on nursing law and the speaker was a nurse for 30 years and a laywer for 20 years and she said to absolutely have your own ins. She uses NSO, so do I. As others said, the hospital attorneys protect them, not you. Also, NSO will supply you with an attorney if you ever have to go up against your BON. Also, it protects you against any care you may give outside of work (in 911 situation or whatever). Anyway, like others said- pretty cheap and better safe than sorry!!
