I think the two are not necessarily related.

Parkinson's disease - MayoClinic.com

Parkinson's affects movement and control. Some S&S include tremors, slow movements, rigidity and slurred speech (d/t losing control over those muscles, not to altered LOC).

That being said, Google informs me that there is a Parkinson's Disease Dementia, in a which a dementia develops in many Parkinson's disease patients:

Thank you... I take care of someone that has the Parkinsons with dementia, and somone I know has just recently in the last 6 months been dignosed with it. They have the tremors, slowing of body movement, and starting to see a difference in their speach. But otherwise have not seen any signs of dementia and was wondering if it would hit them sooner or later, or if they can have it and not get the dementia with it.

Its not guaranteed. My uncle passed in Nov. after maybe 10 years with it. The only dementia he ever really suffered from was med induced hallucinations...they do have a domino effect with their meds trying to keep the tremors down.
