I mother need nursing care but refuses any help for anyone but me. she lives with me, but i have to leave her alone when i go to work. Can I work as a nurse for my mother and get paid? If so, how do I do it? I can't afford to not work, but in the last 3 weeks my mom has fallen twice and had to call ems while I was gone. I think she is getting to the point she needs someone there all the time. Please help...

I believe that if your mom has Medicaid that you can get paid for being her caregiver as long as you qualify to be a home health aid.

We had a very good lawyer who took care of this for us. I was able to bill my day's estate for care, laundry etc. I'm not to sure if Medicaid would pay you, you would most likely have to be employed by an agency.

You might be able to get paid for some hours as a PCA, but that isn't going to be anywhere near what you make as a nurse.
