Nurses General Nursing

orientation at work is almost over...so far i manage to do things on time during the shift, but something always happens towards the end that of the shift so that i am 1-2 hours more on the floor....

i am able to handle this stress--but the stress of what co-workers think of me is starting to hit me...i have made mistakes that caused trouble to my co-workers (such as miscounting narcotics)...i really want to be a good team player---but my inability to troubleshoot and my flaws are hindering.....to be a burden to other nurses is the last thing i want to be...

to some i seem incompetent, and i do worry about earning the respect of my co-workers...

sometimes i wonder what i got myself into...any similar experiences or advice? thanks

im just so stunned...i give my best and find out it's not really enough..

You know, you've poised a very good question that we can all apply to ourselves, LookForward.

I'm sure we've all felt both Varying Degrees of Incompetence and Competence in Different Positions throughout Our Careers.

I guess it all comes together with Practise, Experience, Blunders, and Successes. If we can continue to repeat our Successes, and not repeat our Blunders, (even though we do learn the Most from Our Blunders) we can finally feel Competent in Our Job.

Good Luck to You in finding your Comfort Zone, LookForward.
