Orientation for new grads in NICU

  1. Hi,
A hospital in my area is hiring new grads in the NICU. The job desciption reads "3 to 6 months orientation to departments." I was just wondering if you think that is a good amount of orientation time.

    Thanks

Wow..we only give about 6-8 weeks in our NICU. But they tell the new girls that it is 3 months..uh, wrong! Best to go to the unit and ask about that!

I wasn't a new grad and got 12 weeks. I think a lot depends on how you do, what you experience. If there aren't enough good admissions or sick vents, they may hold you so you can get that experience rather than fall on your butt off orientation.
    Good luck!!!
