The most popular school is Excelsior College. You have to check with your state Board to insure that it is accepted for licensure in your state. This program is an evaluative program, not a teaching program. Their website is: www.excelsior.edu. Another program is the Indiana State University LPN to BSN program. It has a clinical component. Their website: http://www.indianastate.edu/nursing/...-bs/lpn-bs.htm. There are other online programs in TX and elsewhere, however, the programs are not entirely online. Each has a clinical component that the student must attend that is in the vicinity of the school.

I just recently started the online program from LPN-RN. I am going through excelsior. You have to have some general courses before you can enroll in the nursing part of it. There are 8 nursing classes you have to pass before you can do a weekend of clinicls. The clinicl is a one time 2 day test out. The clinicls are only offered in a few states so you may have to travel to get to one. The clinical is on a 6-8 month waitlist. so this could be the longest part of the program. Once you pass you are able to take your boards and become and RN. I have 2 classes of the general courses but I should be starting the nursing part in the next month. I would like to here from someone that has completed it online to hear there thoughts...

There is a distance learning section here. They seem to be very active. Check them out. And, good luck to you all!

Correct me if I'm wrong but www.excelsior.edu is not online except for a forum you can go into that is just for chatting with other students. It is or atleast was a correspondence program that is not accepted in MANY states. I started in as a Paramedic to RN bridge and didn't feel comforable with it so I went to Everest college for a year and I am now waiting for my test results and I feel like I can do an online program now. I'm looking at ISU now.

Excelsior has multiple ways to grant credit, to include online courses. Technically it is a distance school, as are most of the schools that people are referring to when they use the term "online". I also stated that it is an evaluative program, which is not understood by many people when they refer to Excelsior. ISU uses testing in its curriculum also. Anyone who is considering using a distance program needs to investigate the various options and pick what is best for them, based on their wants and needs.

If someone is coming to you house, it certainly isn't anyone from Excelsior College. You have started dealing with The College Network. The representative will sell you a contract to pay The College Network more than $5000 for the study guides that they publish. You can buy these same study guides, used, on ebay for $15 to $30 apiece. You need to do a search on the distance education forum for threads and posts about The College Network. You do not have to pay them one cent to do the Excelsior program. You deal directly with the school, which you should have been able to see if you went to the EC website. If you are smart, you will cancel this appointment. Deal with the school, not a publishing company.

The information that you need to get started with the school can be found on the website, or discussed in a phone call with an EC counselor, or discussed in emails or by snail mail with representatives from the school.
