Is it just me or is there anyone else out there that is annoyed by someone that doesn't have an education beyond high school, that works in a factory, and makes more money than you a professional nurse? Just a question...

Keep in mind that the cost of living here in the San Francisco Bay Area is very high. $85,000 per year is "only" a middle class salary in the Bay Area. Those RNs who are earning $120,000 or more per year, and if the spouse is also earning a good salary, they could live the good life as long as they don't overextend themselves financially.

Money is not everything. It may not give you happiness but it sure is nice to earn lots of it! I have retired from my good-paying job with a pension from the hospital where I used to work. I am working part-time, low stress, lots of time for myself, less income from my current home health part-time job, but with lots and lots of happiness!!!

Yeah, money is not everything!

Money isnt everything but it pays for many things in life. Therefore money is for the most part an essential aspect of modern life. Without money people end up being destitute and homeless, or they move to the woods and become neo-hippies. Which ever one comes first.

Pay in this country stinks. If you can carry ball or cry on cue, you can earn $20 million a year. If you care for people during the worst time of their lives and have the responsibility of keeping them alive you can't even make what they earn in one year your entire lives. Cops keep you safe and may die keeping you safe. Firefighters run into burning buildings. Cops, teachers, social workers, emts, nurses, fire fighters, etc all deserve more pay in my opinion.

I think most of American society is superficial , thats why we pay more attention to Kim Kardashian than Dr. Eva Nogales. Who wants to learn about the role of Tubulin in cancer treatment whereas you can pop on the T.V and watch some brainless antics. Maybe superficial isnt the word, any one want to pick a better phrase feel free.

When I couldn't get work as a nurse, I worked a union job for a time. If I could have progressed and stayed, I would have been working for more than $42 an hour. If one wants the better wages they can always go to those jobs, if you can get someone to hire you. Once they see you are a nurse, though, good luck getting hired. Nobody wanted to hire me outside of nursing. I got the union job because someone pulled strings for me at the time.

Your scenario could happen, but here in San Francisco, Ca., registered nurses' starting salaries are around $85,000 per year. For those who have been in the same job, in the same hospital for over 20 years could earn over $120,000 per year. I'm talking about staff nurse's salary, not nursing supervisor's salary.

Yea that sounds like a lot but lets not forget that you are living in one of the most expensive cities in the US!
