nursing school vs. romance

Hey guys, I know this may sound a little shallow, but I just need to RANT!

Does anyone else have this problem/had this problem while in school? It seems that my close friends and I, since starting school a year and a half ago, have had NO romantic prospects. We go out when there is no exam coming up, but is this a nursing school curse??? Are we doomed until graduation to spend holidays like Valentines/New Year's without a hot babe/dude? (Sorry about this, its just that I went out last night, had a good time, and the one guy I've liked this year kinda blew me off.... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr)

Feel free to share any stories of successful/unsuccessful romances during nursing school! :kiss

I know it can be frustrating when you want to hook up w/someone, but you are probably lucky to be single right now so Mr. HotPants isn't on your mind 24/7 while you need to do clinicals!!! When you graduate and are making $$$ you will meet lots of guys in the hospital or wherever you are! Good luck!

PS I met my husband at work, just FYI

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.

I'm talking to a guy at my job. I think we're just going to wind up as friends.

I'm taking a trip to VA Beach this weekend with a 'supposed' friend, but he's making it a huge surprise thing, so something tells me i might come back out of the dating pool for awhile.

Which is fine. Someone must have peed in the dating pool, because there hasn't been anyone there since January (technically, when i finally called it quits with the boil on the butt of humanity).

Finally things are starting to look up. Or at least out.

Nursing school keeps one busy. It's not unusual to be single during school. Some married people even divorce over nursing school.

I was extremely lucky during nursing school, because one of my male classmates was also my bestfriend during school! I did some dating here and there, but it was always comforting to know he was always there. I am seven years older than he is, so ours was friendship only, but I wouldn't have given our relationship up for nothing during nursing school. Cool part was, he was in the same boat as me, so I didn't have to worry about a man telling me I wasn't spending enough time with him because of school.

I ended up meeting my now husband at the end of my second year of nursing school. I am a diploma grad, so he only had to endure one more year of school with me.

Hang in there! I'm sure it looks dismal now, but just remember, "This too shall pass..."

I mean, I have one romantic prospect, that I am not interested in. But I was thinking along the same lines. Sorta. Anyway, to make a long story short, don't stress on it. Life is long, and mates are many. Hmm, that's kinda catchy isn't it? :rotfl:

Not so weird, nursing school takes a lot of your time and attention. Wait till you are out, not haveing someone needing attention will make the clinicals and hours seem not so bad.

I had a new kid and was working toward a divorce.

Good luck

and have fun

Don't worry honey, There are toooo many men with all of those nurse fantasies......the be plenty............lol :chuckle

LOL..... Anyhow, are there any women out there that have nurse fantasies about men?? Or should I get a dress up fireman costume for my prospective mates???

ummm...the only C I got in school was during my GU module , while I was starting a new relationship.. :imbar ... no sleep....no sleep....no sleep. I ended up marrying the guy and divorced him a year later....more sleep, more sleep, more sleep.

Unfortunately, I think that choosing nursing as a profession for men is about as alluring to women as deciding upon chess as a competitive sport. However, since I'm married and unlike Tony Soprano am not looking for a Goomba on the side this isn't a problem in my case (in fact my wife's biggest concern is that I might be expressing repressed, homosexual tendencies in choosing nursing). Of course, I'm sure that some women find male nurses especially attractive in the same way that some men are attracted to female bodybuilders.

:rotfl: I sure hope so (jk!). Thanks guys you made me feel better. Rejection sucks period. And why is it that everyone likes you except the one person you like (which isn't really true, but thats what it seems like sometimes)? Gawd, this is so high school, maybe I'm regressing from all this stress. :uhoh21:

ps. I think male nurses are hot, and know of plenty of ladies who think so as well!
