Anyhoo, if she was that great of a nurse, why isn't she still practicing? I'm surprised the hospital can function without her skills - yeah, right!
Exactly what i was wondering.....

If your hospital is SOOOOO fabulous, then why aren't YOU working the floors?

Is it possible that those who can't ....hire?

I hear that all the time. Mind you I haven't had a home in over 3 years, because no one will hire me. I have heard everything in the book as well. I just ignore it and move on with my life. Don't let someone ruin your day over it.

It makes me sick to my stomach that negative people even get nursing jobs, when I can't even find one myself. Sad...

Something you said in an update post actually jumped out at me.

Are you telling me this facility is still having open houses? No one does that anymore. Most HR departments have an open house right there in their office every day..........against their will. People coming in to drop off "blind resumes" and hoping to catch the nursing recruiter while they are there.

A nurse who works on my unit was telling me (she is weekend casual, looking for something more permanent closer to her home which is 45 min. away) she went to a hospital for an interview. She had applied over a month ago. When she went back to interview, the entire HR dept. was changed around. They had changed it so the door was always locked, there was a phone outside the door to ring in if you had an appointment (and you were NOT getting the door unlocked if you had no apt.) and there was a drop off slot for leaving paperwork. It had gotten so bad there, lines were forming and arguments about who arrived before who broke out.

The heck is wrong with this place that they still have to go out and advertise themselves to attract candidates? Everyone else is flooded with applicants without all that.

Wow-this is crazy. Facilities in my area have all gone online applications, and just tell would be applicants that want to drop off resume, "sorry, you need to do that online". They no longer accept anything in person for the reasons you stated. Just so much easier on HR staff. Some people even cussing HR staff at my hospital when told, sorry no openings. It is getting nuts!

Maybe, I am naive. Why did you have to listen to her? Lately, if you are negative, I walk away. NR could have told u at the gate that the jobs were gone. Pay her no mind..
