Nursing polls?

  1. Has anyone ever created a poll on who has what degree? After all of this stuff about who is better AAS, LPN, BSN etc. I thought I wonder just how many nurses have what degree? My problem however, is that I am computer illiterate and cannot create a poll. Has someone already created one with this information?I would like a poll to read. what credentials do you currently have? then maybe another one with what program is your ultimate goal with all of the choices for both. Okay I am rambling. If anyone can help please?
    thanks a bunch!

Whenever we use the term "better", that's when the flames start. No one is better than anyone else.....not on this board, not in nursing, not in life. Just my meager opinion.

Oh come on. I get your general point that one person is not necessarily better than another person, but when talking about skills and talent in a profession let's get real. You can't honestly tell me that all nurses are the same and there is no variability in the quality of nurses out there. Nope, just don't buy it. Now I'm not saying that there is necessarily a correlation between how good you are as a nurse and your level of educational attainment, but there definitely are good nurses, not so good nurses, great nurses, etc. Even on this board. What's wrong with admitting that someone may be better than you are? Or that you may strive to be as good as someone else? Even if that person has a higher degee that you? Now, I'm not a nurse yet (not even a student yet - start in a month), but there may be somethings that a degreed nurse learns in the course of his education that may contributes to his being a better nurse than someone else. Maybe not. It all depends on the person.

    Just my 2 cents.

Education may shape a person's ability to perform certain tasks/skills/managerial issues but it does NOT shape what type of worker that person becomes. A person creates himself/herself. I have met and worked with very educated people, but from the way they present themselves on the job...I would be embarrassed to tell someone that I had the amount of education they have.....if I were in their shoes.....being that they are NOT so together as a worker.

I'm not impressed by anyone's educational credentials. What does impress me is what they DO with the knowledge gained. You know.......how they WORK IT...WORK IT...WORK IT!!! :kiss

I totally agree! Education doesn't make you a better nurse. It gives you tools. What you do with them after is your business. Experienced nurses gained tools too over the years... and again, what they do with them is their business. Caring is what makes the difference between better nursing vs don't-give-a-damn nursing, not education.

I don't think I'll participate in this poll.
Who knows, I might not even be a nurse!
