I've seen nursing ghost story threads on here before, but it's been awhile and everybody had a really fun time with it, anybody have any good ones?

I personally have none, but my step mother worked in LTC during the graveyard shift, and experienced some patient deaths on shift. She would provide end of life care and bring them to the morgue in the basement with nobody else with her. Let's just say that was enough to give her chills.

I wouldn't say I had a ghost citing, but I did have 2 dreams that became reality that kept me from getting a good nights sleep for a couple of nights. I was working at a LTC facility when I first started nursing as a CNA in high school. I only worked weekends during the school year because I had sports practice or games after school, so I had just finished a football game Friday night and came home to go to bed so I could get some sleep before work at 0600, I fell asleep on the couch watching TV and started having this dream about my pt I will call Greg. Greg had a stroke and was flaccid on the right side, he used a motorized wheelchair as his mode of transportation. My dream started with me walking out of the front door of the LTC facility, I was walking toward the parking lot and saw Greg, he asked if I could let him n the back door since his wheelchair was to wide to fit through the front door, I said sure and I started to walk around the L shaped parking lot to the back door, I turned around to see if Greg was following and he stood up out of his chair and he was in a tux, I was shocked and just stood there and stared as he walked by me. He walked around the corner toward the back door and I saw a huge flash of bright light and I woke up, I went to the restroom and saw that it was 0330. I thought the dream was odd but didnt give it another thought and went back to bed. And had yet another dream that night, this time it had to do with Greg's neighbor down the hall, I'll call him Jim, Jim was a very healthy 97 year old male who never drank or smoked, he walked around using a Merry walker so he didn't fall if he got off balance. In my dream I woke up to see him walk through the living room in my house, I said Jim where is ur merry walker, and he said I don't need that nemore. He was very easy to understand which was unusual for him, he walked into our computer room and I saw him round the corner to go upstairs, I ran to see where he was going and I saw another huge flash of light, I again woke up from my dream, it was now 0430 and I decided to get up for work, I got to work and sat in report and the charge nurse started off by saying we lost 2 last night, Greg died around 0330 and Jim died about 0430. I sat there quiet and didnt know what to say or if I should say nething, it really creeped me out at first, if that was a coincidence that was pretty spot on, and that's the end of my ghost story/ dream

As creepy as this story is, I still found it comforting..

How about paranormal stories when the patients are still alive? I have come in contact with several "possessed" people. Call it psych issues all you want, but when the language line has no idea what creepy language the patient is yelling, you start to freak out a little.

Ok, this is not really a ghost story and not nursing related, but it's still pretty creepy.

A couple years ago, my kids and I were staying at my parents' house. My son and I shared a room while my daughters had another. My son often talks in his sleep. Just one sentence, usually.

One night, I got up to use the bathroom and when I stepped into the hallway I gasped and jumped a little because in my half asleep/no contacts state, I though my older daughter (Nicole) was standing in the hallway. It was an upright vacuum that was left there, but it was about the right height and with the shadows and what not the cord looked like the split between two legs.

In any case, it took about a half second to put it together and I used the bathroom and walked back into my room and my son sat up and said (clear as a bell) "It looks like Nicole." and then turned over and was asleep.

I get goosebumps thinking of it now.

Same! I read that whole thread that's been going since what, '05?

Not a nurse yet and no ghosts. But when I first moved from OR to MN for an internship, I got to the breeding farm I'd be working at and was shown around. It was a long day after flying into Fargo and then being picked up and brought back to a tiny town in middle of nowhere, MN. My boss took me on a tour around the farm and I met her family and my coworker that I'd also be sharing a room with. It was all pretty overwhelming but exciting. I went to bed with the overwhelming feeling that something would die that night. I have a wild imagination sometimes and put it out of my head.

The next morning, the boss' young daughter came running into the house. She had gone to go clean stalls before school and found a mare had died giving birth. One of the best mares, and she had seemed nowhere near ready to have her baby. The boss always pick two to go into the barn with cameras and alarms set up. She was close but not bagged up or anything, so she went in the other barn. Baby was standing in the corner, terrified. All very unusual.

In a similar vein I live with my husband's grandmother. She is 98 and in good health and her husband died at home many years ago. She says she was downstairs and suddenly just knew that he was gone, even though nothing was really wrong with him. She was right.
