PSNA Cosponsors Nurse Essay Contest to Positively Promote the Profession

The Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Organization of Nurse Leaders, and Nightingale Awards of Pennsylvania have teamed up to sponsor an essay contest for nurses throughout the state.

Essays should begin with the phrase: "If I had it to do over again, I'd still be a nurse today because..." Essays can be any length--one or more paragraphs--and can take any form--even poetry.

We'd like to hear about some of your most memorable moments with patients, families, coworkers, and others whom you've met in your role as a nurse. What about these experiences made them special? What did you learn? How did you grow as a professional and

as a person?Please take a few minutes to write down your stories and submit them this statewide nurse essay contest. Winning essays that portray a positive image of nursing will be featured in publications and on websites that promote nursing as a career.

If your essay is among those selected, you also will receive $100 in prize money. The deadline is September 1, 2001.
