nursing and s e x

  1. I know this may seem like a strange question, but has working as a nurse negatively affected your sex life? Since you are caring for people physically and also seeing alot of sick people, do you get home and feel like you don't want anyone near you? I ask this, because I know that after I had my children and taking care of them that is how I felt alot of the time. Curious to hear you responses.

Well, sometimes I look at my husband's male anatomy and the thought crosses my mind, in 30 years or so, gravity is going to win and some parts are going to "be a little more shy" (I think you all know what I mean) :imbar

    But seriously
I think that sometimes, especially when I've been really busy or I have lost someone at work---the last thing I want is physical closeness. But that can happen with any job that is stressful too.:kiss

NO problems here. It can be very comforting and a great stress reliever.

Rarely do I feel "touched out" after a really busy night. Our main challenge is coordinating time off together with our work schedules and kids. It hasn't gotten easier as they've gotten older, but time is made for the important things...

If I have had a really bad day, yes, I will admit ..it puts a damper on things
But my hubby is very supportive and listens to me when I need to get things off my chest

after 70-80 hours a week I just want a back rub & someone to make my meal & give me the remote. I get that sometimes. We went to supper last nite & it was nice to laugh & not have dishes to do. I think I am worth it! As for sex, well, no discussions from me on that.

Depression can ruin your sex life.
Maybe you should take a look at how much pleasure you take in anything that FORMERLY gave you some...

The only effect it has had on that is the matter of my physical availability for said activity....(worked a lot of night shifts, often didn't cross paths with my SO for several days at a time)....

I think it is a great comfort to come home to someone who loves you. I like to use my time off wisely and try not to think about anything Nursing. My man doesn't like to hear about that stuff anyway, so we rarely talk about it. if I want to TALK after a particularly stressful day, I call my mom or sister. It helps As for the other question, I don't find that my work has any adverse effects on that whatsoever!! Gotta' find time for everything!! :kiss

I agree with Nakita Moon. I want to change clothes, get into me the person, and relax. The best thing is to lie next to my hubby and have him rub my feet with lotion, my back, and anything else. I think the skin to skin contact helps me to relax!

Before I got married and was having sex....
I don't really think that being a nurse hurt my sex life, it made me feel glad about what I had, could do and feel. I appreciated the contact more and still do (when I think about it)
