Nurses Week Gifts

  1. Looking ahead to National Nurses Week. I am an RN and work for a health care advertising agency. Clients are already asking us for advice on National Nurses Week gifts/rewards/recognition. Thought this would be a good place to ask..."what was your best?" and/or "what was your worst?"...
Thanks for your feedback and ideas....

    My best...

One of the Doc/Midwife groups hires a massage therapist to do chair massages on the unit for a few hours a couple days of nurses week. It is great after a shift!

Last year on nurse's week our clinical instructor gave us all nice penlights w/ the hospital logo on it. They were actually given to all the nurses at that hospital and I thought it was nice to include the students!

the best have been tote bags or gym bags, and a fleece throw with the hospital logo (great to keep in the car for sleepy kids)

the absolute worst???? the JAR OPENER I got in 2005.

Pedometer with the hospital logo! I liked it, anyway!

The best? Our hospital used to give out some REALLY cool polo shirts with the hospital logo on them. I haven't gotten one for quite some time, but last year all of the RN's got lab coats with our names and titles embroidered on them. Unfortunately, mine ended up with pen marks ALL over it. I have a hard time with solid white tops.

The worst? One year we got these... FLIMSY plastic flashlights. They weren't even penlights, just reguar flashlights. They were just VERY flimsy and didn't work well. They weren't even attractive; short and fat and bright YELLOW.

for last 2 years we have gotten throws and duffel bags with logo. We wondered if they thought we wouldn't notice 2 yrs in a row-not very creative to say the least..... I think a nice warm-up or vest with lots of pockets, in our choice of colors of course, with logo would be excellent, and would be welcome if they repeated next year...

They're either not very creative, or your facility has SOME kind of turnover rate --

No picture frames with hospital logos on them, please.
No more calculators either. No pens. No T shirts.

Gift cards to Barnes & Noble, or Starbucks would be great, even if it's for a small amount.

I love tote bags, sweat shirts etc as well.

unfortunately both, but we're hoping for something good this year despite all that!

I like the gift certificate idea, especially bookstores or novelty stores in the area. I hope someone from my facility reads this and gets a clue

I'm so jealous...last year, a piece of cake handed out by the manager (if you were on shift)....year before...same thing.

I'd given anything for a jar opener :chuckle
