Hey everyone!:)

I was wondering how much money a first year nurse in Toronto makes in a full-time position . Also, what is the maximum a nurse can earn?

Thanks!

A little less than 22$ an hour. Will be increased a bit in April. If you are casual or part time you can add 13% holiday pay to that. The top of the pay scale right now for bedside nurses is about 32$ after 9 years of full time employment.

BC and Alberta start at 24-25$ an hour if your looking for big money. I know it sucks big time. The public doesn't understand that new nurses are not making much more than liquor store cashiers (18$ an hour here). They just don't get that it takes 9 years in some places to actually get the full wage.

Manitoba nurses make less. I've been a nurse for 4.5 years and I'm only making $23.6 an hour. (I'm not whinning, just trying to make a point).

I really want to be a nurse... but the thought of going through four years of hard work to become an RN only to be paid 20$ an hr is really discouraging :o

The basic rate is 21.75 for the first year. In April it will increase to 22.44. Each year your pay should increase. The highest pay you can get is 33.71.

It's especially discouraging when you live in an expensive place like Toronto! You can live a lot better on the same salay in Calgary or someplace like that.
