Ok, so I'm in the process of applying for a new graduate nurse position at Franklin Square Hospital in MD, and I pulled my transcripts, and my GPA is 2.97. The requirement is 3.0. Does anyone know if they will consider me with a 2.97?

If it's competitive enough that they can specify a GPA requirement, then probably not. The only way to know for sure would be to ask them, but then they've already published the answer...

I guess you could apply anyway and see what happens, but that might just show that you don't meet the requirement and can't follow instructions, either.

It might be better to look around and see what else is out there.

I've already applied...... I misread my GPA. My semester GPA was 3.0, but my overall was 2.97.

If this is a competitive residency, it won't matter that your cumulative is so close to the cutoff. There will be grads with 4.0 or just under it applying for this. Unless they really don't care about grades, or you have an impressive work resume, they probably won't consider your application very seriously. Or if this residency is not highly sought out by new grads, you might have a chance at it. I doubt anyone here on this board would know the answer to your question anyway.

To be honest, I doubt very seriously they will look at your grades. I applied to a very competitive new grad residency and had a GPA that BARELY made the cut. No work history, just personality and interviewing skills and I landed 1 of 4 positions out of 50+ applicants. I don't even think my nursing GPA was what they required. My Nursing GPA was Maybe like 2.9 or something, can't remember. You will DEFINITELY not get the position if you don't at least try though. Good luck girl! Hope you land it!

GPA isn't everything so don't think that just because you don't have a 4.0 that you don't have a chance. I'm pretty sure my measly 2.9 beat out many 4.0s. All about your impressions on your interview!

It just depends. No one was selected for my new grad critical care residency with a GPA under 3.8. It may have no impact, or it may absolutely disqualify her. Only someone familiar with this specific one would know for sure.

But she should definitely go ahead and apply. She has nothing to lose and everything to gain.
