nurse in distress

  1. I'm a RN of more than 6 yrs. and mostly spent working in the ICU. I've recently hurt my back and had to have back surgery. The Dr. gave me permanent restrictions and now i'm forced to change career's. If anyone falls into my catagory of luck, i would love to hear from you. I thought I would be doing bedside nursing the rest of my life and now it's over. I would love to hear from you. Teresa

HI TERESA, I THINK I CAN UNDERSTAND YOUR PAIN AND FRUSTRATION. I HAVE BEEN A NURSE SINCE 1990. I HURT MY NECK AND BACK ON THE JOB, EARLY ON IN MY CAREER. HAVE STRUGGLED THROUGH WORKING FOR SEVERAL NURSING AGENCIES FOR PAST (5) YRS.. AGENCY WORK ALLOWED ME TO CANCELL SHIFTS WHEN NEEDED-USUALLY WITHOUT REPROCUSSION. I AM NOW LOOKING INTO 1.) LEGAL NURSE CONSULTING,(2.) MEDICAL FRAUD INVESTIGATION, (3,) A PREVENTATIVE HEALTHCARE BUSINESS WITH A STOCK PURCHASING PLAN. I AM HOWEVER, IN THE EARLY STAGES OF RESEARCH INTO THESE AREAS. TO TOP THINGS OFF, I WAS RECENTLY DX WITH MENEIRES DISEASE. BUT I'M BOUND AND DETERMINED NOT TO LET ANY OF THESE DOWNFALLS TO HENDER ME IN ANY WAY. I HOPE I'VE GIVEN YOU A LITTLE RAY OF HOPE AND HELP. PLEASE E-MAIL ME AND WE'LL DISCUSS THIS MATTER FURTHER. LIKE THEY SAY, TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE. HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON. BYE FOR NOW. RONI CURRY,RN
