Now what??

I just finished an ADN program in Dec and I am anxiously waiting to sit for the boards. However, I feel lost without being in school. I have looked into some BSN programs around my hometown. To say the least, Im feeling overwhelmed when looking into these programs...like I did when I was looking into starting nursing school in the first place!!

Can anybody give me some advice as to what I should do about pursuing my Bachelors? I feel like I need to have my face in a book learning something.. Thats when I feel good about myself... But I do feel tired...

Please, I need advice!!!

No advice, just thought you would like to know that you are not alone. I just finished a couple of weeks ago too, and between holidays and getting everything done I am feeling a little lost. I am trying not to get right back into school because I want to focus on my "first year", although I know I will be back at it by fall...;)

So if you are tired, take some time and breath a little. Do the things you put off during school, concentrate on getting a job. After you get through your orientation and are getting comfortable in your job then look into finishing your BSN. There are plenty of online programs you can get into that will more than satisfy your need for the books. But meanwhile, find a good book youve been hearing about or have wanted to find time to read but have only had time for your school books.

I'm already working as an LVN and Ive already got a job there as an RN as soon as I pass boards. They will pay for Bachelor's too.

One of my other fears is....will I lose steam? Will it be too hard to get back into the swing of things if I take a semester or two off?

You won't lose steam. Once you get your first syllabus, you'll be chomping at the bit!

There were 11 years between my starting school and my finishing. It was like I never left those 9 years. First smell of a new textbook or sitting at a desk again...right back "at home in school."

hey there!

i'm in texas, too! i have the best bit of advice for ya... and sounded like you when i finished my adn program in 2003. texas tech has a wonderful rn-bsn program. i recommend it to everybody i know that's interested in the transition program. it is 100% online except for the few clinicals you do at the end of the program. it is geared for people working full-time and the instructors are wonderful.

you have to go on campus for a two-day orientation and then again if you want to walk at graduation. the program is only two semesters... you do 5 classes a semester... but... they stagger the classes where you are concentrating on no more than 2 classes at any given time. very well-designed program! the cost is the same as it would be at any state college. and i live 8 hr from lubbock... i just flew out there for orientation and then once again for graduation. pm me for more details!
