couldn't agree more SICU queen.....old is bandied about too much.........as well as young'un, etc.........

used to talk about oneself.........if you choose, but others use their names or what they have asked you to call them by.....unless there is a deeperconnection/friendship/etc.......

    i.e. i am micro

gigolo69.............now I will go against what i just said, but I am using your "name of choice".........try "gig" and please lose the 69.........some days human beings have sex, think sex.....and some days they don't.................(sexuality is a part of life.....), but
it truly doesn't belong out there in the glorious trenches of nursing.........you know the grand and glorious career you are choosing.............

actually love nursing........but you gotta love it.........or in micro humble opinion.......there are other ways to make a $$$...

so gig'.........sorry i didn't wait for your permission to change your name here.........you are ALL RIGHT!!!!! AND NOW AN oldtimer's opinion.........(micro here).........take what you need from threads like this and leave the rest behind.........

great luck and career/nursing field, gig

    teeituptom......

    great post.........
it is great to hear from a longtime nurse that has been in "all aspects of nursing" as you state.......
    it does become you.........

some of the best nurses i have had the honor to work with are
    men
    lpn's
    women
    new grad's
    veteran nurses
    veterans
    cna's

I,micro am not as fluent and eloquent or complete in my speech here on the threads as many here...........

enjoyed reading teeituptom's take on nursing.....and advice to new XY nurses.........

reminds me that we all teach everyday by what we do, say or how we act.........we are either teaching badly or well.....but people learn from us.........

On the contrary, Micro, you have a great way of gettin' at things, and a very positive attitude IMO! Love your posts and everyone elses too! Trite thought, but such a boring world it would be if we all had the same thoughts and opinions, eh?

You have a point about the terminology -- 'grouchy, old, dinosaur nurses' and the 'newbie, younguns', and baby nurses'.....maybe we're hurting feelings and should stop the labels, I agree. Although it started out as teasing, maybe we go too far and cause more divisiveness.

Shall we all call a truce? <G>
