Hello everyone

I'm expecting to graduate May 07' and I'm ready to apply for my first nursing job but I still don't have a resume yet.

I never write a nursing resume before and I'm afraid to start. For those who already wrote one, do you've any suggestion(s) and recommendation(s) on writing my first nursing resume.

Thank you! :balloons:

Congratulations, sounds like your really prepared. I had a company do mine once. They kept it very consise and to the point. Such as: when I had ,critical rn positions listed the exact dates of my employement, any unusual equipment used , charge, preceptor was placed on there. Other than that, it was worded such as duties typical of a critiacal care nurse in a 26 bed, level 1 trauma unit. I realize you most likley don't have much nursing experience to put on there but that can also apply for other jobs. There is a heading at the top with RN license no., full name, phone number etc.. And a place at the bottom for name and signature. I always say refrence avalible upon request. Then I always have a nother sheet with me to give them with refrences. I always take the resume with me in a folder so that it is not bent etc.. I also carry other things in the folder that may be needed.

Specializes in retail NP.

hey! this is kinda lame, but what helped me was going to monster.com and downloading some of the templates for resume writing. then what i did is googled "new graduate nurse resumes" and kinda copied the ones that popped up. the resume doesn't have to be stellar, as you are a new nurse. talk about your education (community service in school), externships, and past applicable jobs.
