Help!

I am going into the OR tomorrow, but I have a few homework questions to answer first as part of the pre-clinincal assgnment.

I could not find the answer to these two questions in any of my books. I have some ideas for both, but I want to be sure of my answers. Book/page references are welcome as I have the usual suspect of nursing texts. P & P, Innatavicius, etc.

1. Describe how sterile gloves are changed in during an OR case.

2. How do you accept sterile supplies or instruments from the circulating nurse when you are sterile?

Thanks in advance!

M

 Uh, didn't you get that stuff in nursing 101? Seriously...Potter and Perry...I thought everyone learned basic sterile technique before starting clinical.

Shay,

OK, I did get basic sterile technique. Maybe I am just making to much out of this. I was thinking there is more to it in the OR. I think I am just a little anxious. As for question #1, I was thinking they are asking how they scrub nurse changes out her gloves if they become contaminated in the OR during the procedure. Does she go out, remove everything, and re-scrub. I guess I was making it out to be more than sterile technique and closed gloving. As for question #2, again I think I was expecting more in the OR than the usual sterile technique.

Thanks for setting me straight Shay!

Cheers,

M
