Well Not easy per say but not extremely diffucult to the point 200 people out the first class doesnt make it because they make it difficult...

Well, if 200 people out of the first class don't make it, it could mean that the school is "too" hard. It could also mean that they're "too" lenient in their admissions.

At $5,000 per class I'm guessing they're augmenting their income by getting as many people as possible to enroll and take as many classes as possible until they flunk out.

I don't intend for this to be mean but I think it's important that you know... With the grammar that you demonstrate in these posts you would not succeed in my nursing program nor in those of the local schools around here. For better or worse - and that's a whole other thread topic - there is a lot of writing in nursing school and good spelling and grammar are part of the grading process (and yes, math, too).

I would encourage you to work to improve your skills while you're trying to find a nursing program that's to your liking. I expect that with stronger language skills you might also find the program to be not quite so difficult.

Ok guys let me Rephrase thatnot "EASY"... i mean Not difficult to get In rather...Like NO NLN...No Entrance or Not as difficult as the rest..Not meaning the work itself.....

I had to take the NLN to get into NS. Others take the NET or another standarized test before acceptance. I don't know of any community college where you wouldn't need a test like this one. They don't exist where I live. If you study you should pass it. If you can't pass it then you will need to take a few remedial courses in areas where you failed to get up to par. This is imperative to do or you will never get through NS.

You say you are in Brooklyn - look into the CUNY system, you already meet the residency requirements for decreased tuition. Any NJ state school, you would be paying out of state fees - which are very, very expensive - or you are going to be going to a private school - again, very, very expensive.

I got a diploma through my local community college and am working on my BSN. I took out student loans for the entire amount of my education and now that $125/month payment is direct debited and I don't even think about it. So, student loans saved me. I was able to get the education I needed in order to feed my family and keep us living indoors.

No school is going to be easier than another. A&P is the same everywhere, drug calculations are the same everywhere...etc. You also need to be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in grammatically correct english. Your local community college has resources to assist you if you need some brushing up in these areas. Anything that looks too good to be true is too good to be true.

Good luck.

Sorry to say, there are no 'easy' RN programs. Now, there are some students that are naturally bright and pick up a bit better than others in lectures, but the bottom line is most nursing programs demand alot from you due to labs, clinicals, lectures, textbooks, practicing skills for performance evaluations, etc... If you wish to graduate, it has to be due to hard work.

No school I know of is going to admit anyone without some sort of test to evaluate their current skills. Some require the NLN, others, NET, some are college entrance exams that include algebra, geometry and science, etc... In addition, most programs in NY want at least a 3.7 and above GPA in the pre-requisites before they are even looked at. So, just because you gained entry into college does not guarentee a seat in their RN program.

i have never heard of an easy nursing school... but in upstate Ny my older sister graduated from Russell Sage BSN program , and my other sister 5 years later graduated from Hudson Valley college . i went to school out west and recieved my RN.

no such thing as a easy program .. you'll work hard and learn alot ... you are dealing with people's lives , you want a program were you will learn , not the easy way out..

good luck in your schooling and keep us posted , if being a nurse is your dream , with hard work and no sleep it will come true!!

i don't know of any school on the east or west coast that dosen't want you to take a NLN or TEAS or something like that. these tests are very important to the program , it is part of the admission critera for nursing school these days.

RN school is difficult to get into , it is competitve and the schools only want the students they feel can pass the RN boards. That is why they want you to meet this critera so they can pick the best people. i know that sounds horrible ,from a student's point of view. If you look at the school's point of view it's reasonable. the school must keep it's accreditation with the BON according to the NCLEX scores, they must keep their students passing boards. That is why they are so picky.

you may want to go to LPN school first pass LPN boards , then bridge over to RN. Some of the bridge programs go by GPA only , i think the LPN school may have you take a exam also. it just depends on where you choose.

please keep us posted and never give up on your dreams. there are many people out there that have not been accepted into a program , that will make wonderful nurses.

i hope this makes sense,, i just worked a 14 hour shift and i'm pooped!!

There is no easy school. You always have to work hard at what you want. If you dont want math you dont want to be a nurse. You need the NLN so that they know you have basic competencies. If this is your dream you won't allow anything to stop you from acheiving it. I dont mean to sound like a hard ass but you just have to realize that the majority of programs are going to require NLN and pre requisites and these standards are in place to weed out those who aren't serious about being a nurse.

My school (small CC) requires you to take the ACT. They also use the ACT score along with GPA to determine who gets accepted to the program. The also give extra points for every one of the required math and science classes you have already completed. They explained that they do this because most people who start the program and struggle have problems with the math and science. If you already have those courses completed, then that is one less reason why you might fail out of the program.

I understand that you were asking about a school that might not be so demanding on you for admission, but when it comes to classes, they should all be pretty much the same I would guess. You have to pass the same tests as everyone else, you want to make sure your school prepares you for them.

Good luck in your search.

i havent read all these responses but you could try a few classes at a less expensive community college and see how you do. Ask some of the current nursing students how tough the instructors are. (I know they should be tough but many will agree there are those who make it more difficult than it should be...one mistake and they throw the baby nurse out with the bathwater)....We started with 60...ended with 15 graduating on time. I also will tell you I have a 4 year degree from a University...however when I decided to go to nursing school after getting my BA (yes I am a BA-RN! :) that community college was tougher than any university class I had ever taken. If you want it bad enough do it.....

I am in a BSN program at a state college. In state tuition is $5k/year. There was no entrance exam whatsoever. At my school, you need to complete the required prerequisites, have a good GPA (well over 3.0), and keep your fingers crossed that they accept you out of the hundreds of applications.

Once accepted, you take the TEAS so they can see if you'll need any extra help throughout the nursing curriculum. Seemed somewhat a$$ backward to me, but that's how they do it!

It's competitive to gain entry, but if you are looking to avoid entrance exams right away, my school could be an option.
