Hello everyone. This is my first post and i just need some advice. I've been in the medical field for 7 years and just now decided to pursue my RN degree. The problem is that i was arrested back in 2001 for domestic violence. Me and my sister had an arguement, and she vandalized my car with a rock . Instead of me calling the cops on her i tried to stop her. However she called the police and since SOMEONE has to go to jail they took me. The charge was a misdermenor -battery. After i went to court the case was not prosecuted. The disposition read "nolle pros". I TOOK the next step to expunge the record, an was sucessful. Now my question is that will this encident prevent me from becoming a nurse ? And also one job applications do i check yes when asked about convictions EVEN if i was never conficted.... just charged..

I suggest that you go to your local law library and look up the state statutes for your state governing R.N. licensure. If that doesn't clear up matters, look at the case law (reviews of law suits brought to court and summaries of the same) determinative of the same in your state. If that doesn't clarify matters, I suggest that you contact by e-mail or writing your state board of nursing with regard to the same.
I hope that this helps a little.
I am not an attorney. I suggest that you contact an attorney with regard to this matter.
I am an R.N. and Certified Legal Assistant.:wink2:
