#4 of 6, 3rd daughter. Niether parents drink or smoke. Mom and her sister both flunked out of nursing school. Had 2 great aunts one on each side of the family that were RN's. They were my inspirations. Neither of them were 1st born and we come from a long line of tee- totalers

8th born, 6th female, no alcoholics in my family that I am aware of. I am the only nurse in the family and was always the "nurturing caretaker" of the group. My family did have a dysfunctional quality about it. Much verbal, emotional and physical abuse from my father.
I was also told in nursing school that nurses are always from dysfunctional backgrounds. Something about accepting a "servitude" role in life. Ask my hubby if I assume a "servitude" role, LOL!!!!!
