We've had a thread about Plantar Fasciitis. Now, has anyone had Morton's Neuroma? I've been diagnosed with one in my left foot. It comes and goes but when it hits, it feels like I've stepped on a hot coal! Awful! I have a podiatrist appointment next week. Any advice? Thanks! Susan

My husband and my sister have battled this for years. They had the shots and it helps for a little while, but eventually both of them had to have surgery to remove the neuroma. My sis actually had both feet done at once! The recovery time is about 3-4 weeks, and they report that they are are both pain free now.

Just wondering exactly what is Mortons Neuroma? What symptoms does it have? I have something that happens sporadically, maybe months apart, even years apart, in the sole of my foot. I will suddenly get this "shock-like" feeling in the bottom of my foot. It is so intense, that I HAVE to stop IMMEDIATELY and rub the bottom of my foot. No matter what I am doing, driving, working, shopping, whatever. It is a combination of a burning, itching sensation, so intense that if it ever lasted more than the few seconds that it does last, or come more frequently, I would truly consider amputation! It is absolutely scary because it is so intense, and out of the blue. It hasn't happened for months now. When it does, it will usually do it a few times, then thats the last of it for another few months. Weird.

Mine feels like I've stepped on a hot coal. I have a burning pain sensation on the bottom of my foot and it runs into my two toes (3rd and 4th). It's actually a thickening of the nerve and pressure from walking can cause it to be pinched between the metatarsals. The first time it happened I just about fell down, it hurt so bad! It comes and goes but I never know when it will hit. I have a pretty good pain tolerance but I really really hate this pain!!

I had a bunionectomy done on both feet a few years ago (not at the same time) but my doc said it is normal to have them come up in people that have had bunions. Mine was on the left foot and was worse when I was PG, due to weight gain. It comes and goes, now it is "quiet" but I dare not go outside without shoes lest I step on a rock and "wake it up" again. At some point and time I might have to have it removed, but for the time being, I will let it "sleep".

PS: Cortisone shots seem to help for a while. Have you tried that?

Good luck!:roll
