Re: Memorial Sloan Kettering- interview help
I worked at Sloan but not as a floor nurse, but can provide you with some insight on what it's like there. First, it is a GREAT place to work, everyone (except the patients) are professional and almost excessively polite. The hospital has tons of money so is very well staffed. Every floor is specialized and therefore have their own process and culture. The charting is almost all electronic, there are computers outside every room. The nurses have these cool communicators and call anyone by just saying their name. The patients however can be very difficult -but there is a patient representive on every floor ( most hospitals have just one). I would expect questions on how you would handle highly demanding patients. The patient mix is also highly diverse, so you might get questioned on that. (We had a whole inservice on how to deal with Russian patients) You might get questioned on how you deal with relatively young patients with children dying, but I doubt it.
Good luck!
