  1. Why would an antocholinergic be frequently administered with an antipsychotic?

    from my pharmacology textbook in the chapter on anticholinergic drugs:

    Anticholinergic drugs are given for their central effects in decreasing salivation, spasticity, and tremors; ... to relieve parkinson-like symptoms that occur with older antipsychotic drugs

    As ginger said....EPS is a common problem with the typical antipsychotics. Your atypicals don't cause EPS as much as your typicals
