Magnet Sites and Nursing Communication

If you are a magnet facility, how do you handle communications when your nurses do not have email accounts?

Are you talking about any type of communications in particular? And I'm not sure how you mean communication that is at Magnet facilities versus non-magnet facilities. Is there a new rule about Magnet hospitals and communications that I haven't heard about? I've been in nursing since before computers so email was never an option back then. Most places I know have mail boxes for each staff, the staff bulletin board, and a communication notebook at the desk. It is every staff's responsibility to peruse the communication notebook and often times we would initial the page so that our manager knew we read it. There are still facilities now days that have computers for orders but not for charting or staff email.

Magnet requires communication, and I wondered how Magnet sites are achieving that, given that most nurses are not given email accounts. I'm also seeking an online method exclusively. Thank you!

I've worked at several Magnet facilities but none have utilized online only. Too many staff do not regularly check emails due to lack of computers, lack of time during shift, lack of computer savvy, computers being down. The best place to communicate to nurses, if it is really important, is to put a sign in the bathroom at eye level when you sit on the pot. I've utilized that strategy on numerous occasions as a manager. Good luck with finding the info that you are looking for. Sorry I don't have any ideas.
