Default Re: LTC - Subacute vs speciality hospital, vs nursing home vs rehab?
I start next tuesday at a LTC facility/nursing home. Im very nervous but excited at the same time. There is still 70% of my graduating class, i graduated in May, that are without jobs. Im happy to even have this opportunity. I must admit though this site has been scaring me a little with all the negativity about LTC facilities. To be honest I feel in this market we can't be picky. We need to take what we can get. I have a friend that ran into 2 students the other day from the 2008 graduating class who are still job hunting. The way I look at it is I am the low man on the totem pole. By no means am I expecting anything to be easy, but I will take whats offered. Its scary out there especially with new grads coming in to the market within the next couple of months. Im not sure what to expect or how many patients I will have but Im going in with a positive mind. I wish everyone the best of luck whether it be LTC, STC, home health, hospital etc. Like I said I think right now experience is experience and we should take what there is to offer. Just my opinon
