Did anyone have trouble getting into nursing school, and if so what?

Also, is it easiest getting in by private university vs. public?

Specializes in LTC , SDC and MDS certified (3.0).

I didn't but I'd been an LPN for over 10years at the time at a community college!

I attend a private college (graduation Sept 7, 07). There was a two-year waiting list at the community college that I attended. I decided to pay more money than wait two years and possibly be accepted to community college.

Specializes in Community Health, Med-Surg, Home Health.

I have also heard that entering into a private institution is a bit easier than community colleges. I did graduate as an LPN from a community college, but it was hard for many to get in because there are a limited amount of seats and tuition is generally cheaper.

Specializes in a variety.

Nursing schools base their criteira forr admissons according to GPA, overall science academic performance of a passing grade. Most require a least a 2.5 gpa for overall science courses and/or B for some colleges/universities in nursing courses. Yes, it is quite competitive in the area where I live and usually the individuals admitted, have really high GPA, above the basic requirement. I would recommend establishing a rapport with someone who has pull on the admitting process. This will give you a chance hopefully to prove yourself and/or if your gpa is not the best, as compared to other students who are applying.

All the best,
