lpn entrance exam ques.

Jan 29, '07Quote from nathy620I was told "no calculators allowed," but the proctor put one at my station. I used it, but did not need it. The math on the NET was so easy, it scared meI thought I must be missing something. I wasn't. It was just that easy. The reading comprehension, on the other hand, was NOT. I am PTK and SKD, and I scored a 70. I stupidly did not wear my watch, could not see a clock without craning (and was afraid to do so lest I be accused of cheating), and rushed through, fearful that I would run out of time. I finished the entire test with way over an hour to sparedangit! DO watch the time and spend every minute going back over the paragraph to make sure you get the gist of it, but be SURE to press "submit" at the end, BEFORE your time is up. My overall score (on the sections counted by my school) was mid80's, and they tell me that's good??? I applied Friday. We'll see how "good" it really was, lol. Good luck to you! Don't let this scare youthe NET was no where near as hard as I expectedyou'll do fine!hey guys ill be taking my lpn entrance exam next week i was wondering if anyone knew if your allowed to use a calculator? this may be a very stupid question... thanks

Jan 29, '07No, we were not allowed to calculators. We were given 5 sheets of scrap paper and even they had to be turned in after the test.

Jan 29, '07Hello! I have a quick question about the LPN entrance exam. From what I have read, the schools use your math and reading comprehension (along with some careeroriented/ethical questions) as the determinite as to whether or not you have made it in. If that is true, why do I see so many Life and Physical Science test review questions throughout the internet and Kaplan publications? I think I will do well on the math and reading, but Sciene.. yikes! It has been over seven years since I took college Biology. Can anyone tell me if I am overreacting in regards to the Science portion? Thanks so much! P.S. I am taking the test on Wednesday.

Jan 29, '07Quote from Christine950423Although the science questions are there, my school does not use them in the "point system." I was told that the only determinites are the reading comprehension and math, although your scores in all areas are printed out for them to see, so... ? There are science questions in the review material; I would go over them if you feel rusty.Hello! I have a quick question about the LPN entrance exam. Jan 29, '07The entrance exam I was given for the school I will be attending was not the official NET test but it had the same sort of things. Math (basic math, fractions, decimals, some algebra equations, graphs to read, nothing too bad and reading comprehension). We had no science at all.
We were told no calculators but were given a couple of pieces of scrap paper and they gave us a calculator and a VERY basic one at that! I was told by a professor I had for Advanced Algebra in college that he allowed calculators for his class because you need to know and understand HOW to do the math problem before you could ever think to use a calculator and enter the info correctly to get the answer. But even without the calculator for the entrance test, it was easy enough to do it without it.
Jan 29, '07Very cool. I am glad to hear that the science part may not be counted against me. I was really beginning to get scared. Thanks so much!

Jan 30, '07SO i'll be taking the net next wed. i hope i pass the math is what scares me
Good luck everyone
Jan 30, '07I've heard the math is pretty basic some geometry questions, percentages, fractions, decimals and algebraic word problems. I'll post tomorrow after the test to share what was on my exam. Good luck to you all!

Jan 30, '07Not to worry. If you passed the 8th grade, you can do this math. The algebra problems were on the level of 3x=12. Really. Do, do, do, focus on the reading comprehension. Good luck!
