Just wondered if someone could explain what an LPN is. I think it stands for Licenced Practicing Nurse?? But what do they do and what training (length of time) and exams do they take? Also what is the equivalent in Britain? Thanks.

In the U.S. it takes approx 12-15 months to complete LPN training (in some stated they are called LVNs, vocational instead of practical). To become licensed they take the NCLEX-PN. I don't know what the equivilent is in the UK.
