I have lived over seas, and NEVER heard a Limey, Kiwi, or Aussie ever say ass. It is always arse, bottom, not ass. Lighten up, Scottie, if you really are one. You have the dreaded foot in mouth! I barrack for the Rangers. I suppose you like Celtic, or maybe Dundee.

    Lora,

I am a Canadian RN working in the US. I respect Canadians, I respect Americans, I respect everyone (as a rule). But what I really respect, is that you have the intelligence to spell the 3 letter word ASS!! Good for you!! Do you use Hooked- On-Phonics???

Lora....What a HORRIBLE disposition you have! GROW UP kiddo & mind your manners. Apparently, you're still wet behind the ears.Once you've been around the block abit-you'll know what we're talking about.
By the way, I'm married to a Scots & believe me...you all aren't SOFT-SPOKEN people either.

Hardly worth mentioning really Lora, but I didn't actually refer to you as a RN. If you read the reply properly, you will see I called myself an English RN. You do seem to have a very defensive attitude (forgive me if I'm wrong), but you need to temper this a bit before you qualify. There is nothing wrong with being assertive, but you come across as aggressive. You won't get far with your colleagues or the general public with an attitude like that. I don't think it's fair to brand a whole nation as rude and brash as you did? Have you ever been to America? If not, then I suggest you do and then make your judgement. Lighten up dear.

It's little wonder men do well in this profession, by the time all of the women get finished cutting each other to pieces, we look good by default. PS we appreciate all your doing for us.

What makes you think men do better? Your view is very narrow-minded. Surely the idea of this bulletin board is so that people can sound off about things. Maybe women just make their point better. Everyone has a right to say what they like. Before I was a nurse I worked in an office and witnessed the most infantile behaviour from men who were cutting each other's throats to get to the top. Some days it felt like working in a kindergarden. So don't be too sanctimonious. Men can be just as ******!!!

OK to everybody involved in this little escapade of a thread.

1st........lets not change this topic into something else (i.e. the male vs female issue). That was lame mito, I work in the US and am male, and know female nurses more competent than some physicians, and the same for males. The funny thing is mito, just like Lora you assume (i.e. all posts releted to trashing are from females).

2nd - The Topic loud mouth Americans is what brought me in here, to see why we are such? Yet there was nothing, nadda no base for this topic, therefore clearly showing Lora's intelligance level. Cutting back down on her is not going to help, every reply by her has clearly been rude and obnoxious.

3rd - The only way to deal with Lora, is to not further reply to this topic/thread.....and let it fall to the bottom, unless she wishes to converse with herself. For me this is my last post/reply to a Lora topic.......I'm out

Well now, where do I begin? First of all I am proud to be American and have a tendency to be brash and sassy. If I don't stand up for myself who will....As nurses aren't we supposed to stand up for those who cannnot do it themselves?....Secondly I as a fellow Nursing Student get really annoyed at the way I have been/can be treated by veteran RNs...however I quickly remind myself that these folks have alot of knowledge and experience to offer that you cannot learn in the classroom and that they are not always trying to be mean, just helpful. It always makes me feel great when I can show them that I do know what I am doing and that I do have some well developed skills and that I just need that experience to apply them.....Lastly....To each their own and lighten up....

Please aren't we all adults here? Between this subject and the SUZY K subject it sounds like a bunch of immature kids. I used to enjoy coming to this post but if this continues I won't be back. I have better things to do than hear a bunch of kids argue about something so insignificant. Let's be nice to each other. We are here to learn and encourage one another, not bash each others heads in.

Let me start by saying "thanks" to you guys for defending me in my absence..lol..as bad as nursing is, the only time I have time to read through here and reply is while I'm at work
I am very proud to be American, and yes, was offended by the heading "Loud Mouthed Americans". My friends and coworkers accuse me of always seeing both sides of an issue, and this is simply what I was trying to get Lora to do. My intent was to say, "until you've walked a mile in our shoes..." So, ya'll were correct in that I meant no harm in my reply. As for Lora's reply to me..welllllll, being from the south, Alabama to be exact, let me point out that NOwhere did I use the word "slave" in my reply. As for forgetting I was a student, I started out in Central Supply, Mailroom, Purchasing, Unit Secretary and THEN worked my way through nursing school...soooooooo, I have never forgotten where I came from..

Lastly, could I request some help from my fellow nurses..to retrieve my head as lora suggested; Do I need a neurosurgeon or a proctologist???

and thankyou because I know I will make a good nurse, unlike others who forget they were students also. You are not right about the nurses in my country being slaves to the doctors. Maybe so years ago but not know.
