Los Angeles County College of Nursing LVN-RN 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi!

I've applied for the LVN to RN program at Los Angeles County College of Nursing for Fall 2017. I was wondering if there was anyone else applying to this program? Also, to those who have graduated from this program or are currently taking classes, can you provide any feedback regarding the Summer pre-req course and just the program overall. It would be super helpful. I went to the information session last December and --------------- freaked me out a little. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank You! I look forward to the replies!

Hello I have also applied for the Fall bridge program at County for 2017. I am waiting to see if I get in. I didn't get the extra 5 points from the TEAS exam which I took at County but I'm crossing my fingers! I have heard the bridge program will be intense but I feel like we can do it!

Yea I definitely heard that it's going to be a tough year. The pre-req class in June is pretty intense too!!! But yea I'm hoping we get in!!! This waiting until May to find out is killing me!!!

How many points do you have calculated if you don't mind me asking? I would be at 85 points including the TEAS and all my grades. The waiting is a deal drag!

That's good!! I have 81 pts. I took the Teas V and I was 0.3% from getting the bonus pts. I took TEAS 6 because it was required for another school and got a waayyy better score. Sucks they took my first test score, I didn't get the extra points!! But yea you should be ok, I think 85 is good.

81 is a solid good score as well. From what I heard the point system is usually lower for the bridge program compared to the 2 year program. I also heard that acceptance notifications are given by end of April from other posts that I have come across. The only thing that worries me is that I haven't had a chance to practice my skills because I work in a locked Psych facility and haven't had any acute experience.

Omg yes I feel the same way!!! I don't really have much experience, only did acute care for about 9 months but that was a year ago. So the summer class is really stressing me out. They did say they have videos and you can practice as much as you want so that's a plus! Also, I know that they're accepting students for fall and spring semesters for the bridge program. I guess if you don't make it for fall then there's always spring? I'm not really sure but yes crossing fingers we both make it!!!!

Let's see what happens! Yeah I heard that they split the group between fall and spring. Did you select LAC USC as your clinical setting? I chose Olive view because it would be much closer to me.

Yea I chose the LAC USC for clinicals. I think they said they also go to Harbor UCLA in Torrance. I live in Cerritos so it would make sense to have my clinical rotations there. Did you take your TEAS at the school? If so, were there a lot of you taking it?

Yeah I took the TEAS at the college. There were a lot of people taking it that same day that I took mine. At least 50 if not more.

Oh wow! Do you know if the test was only for the people applying for the Bridge program or did they also have the generic people taking the TEAS? That's a lot of people if they're all going for the bridge and I think they had two test dates.

Both generic route and Bridge program applicants were testing that day. They did have different dates to test but I remember them taking the LVN applicants to one room so the room I was in I believe had all lvns there. I'm sure there are a lot of applicants but we have pretty solid points. Gotta pray and hope for the best!
