Looking for info on Louisiana nursing

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi All, Im thinking about relocating to the Shreveport area in the next few months, does anyone work in a local hospital there? If so could you give a little info about the working conditions on the typical med/surg floor there? I currently live in central California and am looking for a change. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Deb

There are several Hospitals in the area, have heard some not so good things about some of them. You can e-mail me @ [email protected]

I like where I am at, the VA Hospital, the hourly wage is not quite as high as a few places but has its pluses

13 sick days

26 vacation days

never being sent home for low census

government bene's

I don't have an answer to your question, but I just wanted to say hi. I moved to the New Orleans area from Central CA a few years ago. I was in the Hanford area. It still gets hot here, but at least you don't step outside and immediately burst into flames from the 110 degree heat. :chuckle Good luck on the job hunting.

Specializes in NICU.

Ditto on the hello's! :D

Welcome to this area of the country! We are 1 hr. west of S'port and our facility is great. IM me for details. (Texas). Have heard good things about Willis-Knighton, Bossier City (town east of S'prt so close they are connected) and VA and Christus Shumpert. LSU has great L&D, cath lab and other areas but gets negative comments on other depts. Good luck.

Hi! I live in the Shreveport area. I have worked at Willis Knighton and at LSUHSC. Both are good hospitals. There is a lot of opportunity in nursing here and different options to choose from. Let me know if you need any specifics. Would be glad to help. Oh, and welcome;)
