Leave BA degree off my resume?

Should I leave off my resume that I have a degree in sociology? I sometimes wonder if some people feel threatened by it, particularly if the interviewer doesn't have a 4-year degree herself. I don't see what the big deal is because it doesn't mean I'm particularly skilled in anything as sociology doesn't train you for anything, at least at the undergrad level. Any advice would be appreciated.

No way! You worked for that degree. It shows that you are intelligent and committed to learning. Also, sociology is pertinent to nursing. Those skills come in handy.

A degree is a degree and it distinguishes you from those who have not earned a degree. Leave it on.

No one is going to be intimidated by a BA in Sociology

If anything it will show the interviewer additional proof of work ethic. You earned that degree. Show off your hard work.

I don't know. I get on various job forums where I read that after several months of looking, a job seeker leaves off they have a degree and then just like that, they get a job. It's only been six weeks of looking, but it is frustrating nonetheless.

I don't care what the degree is in; if it came from a legitimate school, it belongs on the resume. More power to ya!

At one of my current jobs, my boss's boss told me that one reason I got the nursing job is that I had a BA in sociology. She said it made me more well-rounded and able to think and relate to people. PUT IT DOWN!!!

I'm a new RN and I have a B.S. in business administration. Heck yeah you should leave it on your resume! It's part of your educational accomplishments and it's not like you're putting it on your resume to show off. More power to you!

i have your degree and an mba! i left both on my resume and was called an "impressive candidate" when i interviewed for my current job. i think the problem you are having right now is the fact that you are applying in late june july... if you are a new grad employers will be hiring inexperienced rns again around september and october to start in december-february... some may start seeking as early as august. in any case do not get discouraged unless you live in a market that is not hiring anyone (experienced or not) at this time. in which case you will need to look at other areas... have you considered rural areas outside of your state? gl!
