new to the list. to become a lactation consultant, you must log 2500 hours of hands on experience with breastfeeding dyads if you have a BSN, orbachelors degree, or 4000 hours if you have an ADN or associates degree. there are ways you can get out of some hours. you can contact the IBCLE or check out their website:

other than the hours, you have to sit for an exam that is only offerred once a year the last monday in July.
