I'm sure my alternative therapies professor could defend it.

There are some patients it will pertain to depending on their belief system I think. I'm not saying I could come up with the evidence to include in the diagnosis but I can see where it could be used at least.

There's plenty of nursing diagnoses I didn't see a point in. Just like there's plenty of ICD codes that are a "once in a lifetime if ever" type thing.

There are alternate therapies that some facilities will bill for, and in order to bill for them they need to have a nursing diagnosis for same.

This is a therapy that "opens the flow to one's center", some call it "energy work" In any event, it can be an alternate therapy for pain, for anxiety...

Regardless, it can and does become part of treatment with those who are chronically ill with any number of illness', including pain control, migranes, that sort of thing.

Much like yoga--which for any number of people, this can also be part of a therapeutic treatment plan.

Whatever works...

Sarcasm and humor at work. "I am so tired today-must be a disturbed energy field. I volunteer to get sent home if the census drops. Just sayin'." or "The Doe family just depleted my energy field; can you assign him to someone else tomorrow?"

Did you really see that diagnosis used somewhere? I could see it referring to a case of V-tach or seizures - but in any other circumstance, I might just laugh.

It struck me as a Reiki thing too.

It struck me as a Reiki thing too.

The NANDA diagnosis apparently is based on the energy therapies such as therapeutic touch, healing touch, reiki.
